Detailed description of Waterview Golf Club
Waterview Golf Club is an 18 hole public course located Rowlett, Texas.
The course first opened for play in 2000. Waterview was transformed from a pasture into a gently rolling par-72, 7200-yard course. Designed by Gary Panks, Waterview features an exceptional championship layout and the acclaimed Nike Golf Learning Center.
Five strategically placed tees on each hole allow golfs of all abilities to find an acceptable and enjoyable challenge. More than 1,500 trees, of 18+ varieties, have been planted. Lakes and other abundant water features accompany the beautifully manicured fairways and bentgrass greens.
The club house includes a proshop to provide all your apparel and equipment requirements, a golfer's grill and an outdoor tournament or special event pavilion. Nearby state-of-the-art practice facilities include a 3-hole practice course, 45-stall driving range, a chipping green and a large putting green.
Club fitting and swing analysis is available as part of the Nike Golf Learning Center - a dynamic new instructional concept combining traditional golf fundamentals with instruction in all apsects of the game. This instructional concept is available to the community, from Jr. programs to clinics and individual instruction.
Waterview Golf Club offers discounted rates for City of Rowlett residents during the week and weekend, a senior rate during the week, and twilight rates throught the week.

I played in a tournament here (for the 5th year in a row). I can't tell you how disappointed I am with this course. I always have been. This is definitely the LAST time I will EVER play this course for as long as I live. Just not impressed with the tee boxes (lumpy with divots, not level), greens were good but overall, that couldn't help this course. There's a reason it's called "waterview" and it's not the view of the water on the course. Probably named that because of the water found all over the place that just puddles everywhere (next to tee boxes, around tee boxes, in the fairways, around greens, you name it). I'm surprised I wasn't eaten alive by the mosquitoes since there was so much water everywhere.

Slow play, twosomes not paired. We had 2 twosomes in front of us and a twosome behind us. Marshalls all over the course but don't seem to be doing anything to speed up play. But main problem is the cart signs out 100 to 140 years in the fairway. you either park and walk up and hit and come back or go to the green and walk back. Most all of the courses in our area have either no cart signs or around 50 years at the most. We have complained but no results. What is so important about that 100 years. This is a great place to play but this cart sign thing is a problem.

Most of the tee boxes were absolutely horrible due to water all over the ground. Couldn't find a dry spot to tee up on most tee boxes. A few par 4's are long enough to warrant a par 5 for short hitters. Greens were like putting on concrete. Ball marks all over the greens. Some sand traps were still wet.

Major problem on this course has been slow play and one of the main reasons could be fixed by the course. The cart signs are set on a lot of holes around the 100 yard mark. This leads to leaving cart and walking 50 yards and back or driving to green and walking back. This and cart path only are the 2 major issues on most of the courses we play and these are the 2 complaints for senior golfers.

In spite of these tough times (oe maybe because of them) Waterview has gone up 5 dollars on their senior rates.
Tough course for short hitters. Has 4 four pars over 400, but all are open so you can run up a fairway wood if necessary. Wide open with little water. Except for the length, its very playable. Great greens. Fairway are often wet.

Nice variety of holes including a challenging set of par 3s. Also has an excellent practice area.

Pro shop staff the best. Managers/Asst. Managers some of the best in Dallas area golf courses. Pro shop and clubhouse need updating. Weekend staff best in area.

There was extensive work being done off of the fairways when I played the back 9. Watering of overseed made the cart paths and some areas of the fairways treacherous. Layout of the course was nice though and I would play it again. Top quality greens!

One of the best courses in the area. Has the best bent grass greens around.

At 7200 yards from the tips, this course will test every club in your bag. It has generous fairways and fast undulating greens. The staff is curtious and friendly. The prevailing wind is from the South and makes those North to South holes... long already... exceptionally long. I like the course.
